Partnering with Shape, the honest answers.

Are Shapers paid for the project work they do for us?
No. Project work is part of their Shape program, not freelance contracts. Your brief is treated like a real assignment because that is how they learn. If you want to convert a Shaper into a paid engagement after the cohort, that is on a separate contract.
What does it cost to partner?
Pricing depends on the tier and your hiring volume. A single project is a flat fee. The Partner tier is an annual subscription with hiring fees per offer. Enterprise is custom. We share exact pricing on a discovery call so we can match it to your context.
Are we obligated to hire someone at the end?
No. Project tier carries no hiring obligation. Partner tier has expected hiring volumes you can roll forward across cohorts. You only make offers to Shapers who actually fit; that is the whole point.
What kind of briefs work well for a Shape engagement?
Self contained projects with a clear scope and a real business need: a new feature, a refactor, a dashboard, a research piece, a design system effort. Avoid greenfield "build us a product from scratch"; do bring real, scoped, four to six week chunks of work.
What about IP and confidentiality?
We sign mutual NDAs as part of the partnership setup. Output produced on your brief belongs to you. Shapers can use the work for their portfolio under the terms we agree at brief intake.
Can I provide my own mentor or hiring manager to review the work?
Yes, and we recommend it for the Partner and Enterprise tiers. Your reviewer joins the weekly fifteen minute review sessions and contributes to the scoring. It is the fastest way to evaluate Shapers in your own context.
